First opened In 1954 ‘Squire Bradbury’s Milk Bar’ was located in the small town of Sherburn-in-Elmet. During this time the cafe became firmly established as a bikers cafe.
The Squires Cafe became more and more popular over the years with bikers traveling to the cafe from all over Yorkshire, the North and across the UK traditionally meeting on a Wednesday evening.
For many years a Wednesday night in Sherburn became an awesome sight with bikers all descending on the small town and bikes as far as the eye could see with Squires Milk Bar at the center.
In the early 70’s we purchased the cafe, then in 2002 we moved just up the road to the Newthorpe site. This reduced congestion for bikers and allowed the good residents of Sherburn to have their town back.
We have some wonderful memories of the old days and the first Squires Milk Bar Cafe in Sherburn town. We are pleased to say that after the move in 2002 our customers are still growing in numbers, thanks to bikers spreading the word and with Squires being featured on television programs.
During each calendar year we host many events including, charity runs and fund raisers, best bike competitions, shows and motorcycle auto jumbles.
Because we get very busy at times we also have an outside barbecue and service hatch so that you can order drinks, burgers, fish & chips etc. this has made serving very quick and customers don’t need to queue for very long on particularly busy days.
We also have an ongoing commitment to constantly develop our site here at the new Squires.
For example, we have just built an outside shower & toilet block for bikers that want to camp on our 7˝ acre site overnight, or stay for a few days while they visit Squires and tour around our beautiful Yorkshire countryside, or attend one of our motorcycle events.
We are very proud of our heritage and hope that all of our old friends and all new bikers will also continue to enjoy the Squires all bikers cafe and it’s unique atmosphere that has taken many years to develop.
